I am so happy to be beginning a new year of Project Life! I remember feeling rather defeated with my albums at the start of 2015. But despite the fact that my “scrappin’ to do” list is even longer now, I am SUPER motivated and SUPER excited to jump in and start off the year with a bang. That’s something that I really love about Project Life. You can make a fresh start at the beginning of every new year! Here are some things that I am looking forward to when it comes to this year’s album: 1. Taking my DSLR off the shelf. 2. Making my own digital cards (either from scratch or using digital kits). 3. Bringing in realistic embellishments to add a
I fell in love with Project Life at the end of 2011, just in time for the start of a brand new year. Despite many ups and downs over the last four years—and the fact that I am woefully behind in every album, except for the one that I actually finished—I haven’t given up on Project Life! And I don’t intend to, either. This is my style of memory keeping! The things that first appealed to me about Project Life appeal to me still. I love recording all the little everyday moments, not just the big ones. I love working on smaller canvases instead of on big, blank pieces of 12×12 paper. And I love how fun it is to put all these little things
As I mentioned in my previous post, this year I’m participating in Ali Edwards’ One Little Word class! (It’s really awesome—if you are on the fence about joining, you should just do it! The community is very supportive and full of inspiration.) We are working together to create an album to record our thoughts, feelings and intentions for the year. I knew I wanted to find an album that was a pretty, shiny gold. The color gold (and glitter… and stars!) really embodies the word “celebration” for me. But when I went shopping, I kinda balked at the price tag of the one gold album I found. It was gorgeous. But it was $20! I almost went with it, but it also had another strike
The first time I heard of the concept of having a One Little Word, I fell in love with it. Each January, I’ve picked a word. My list of past words includes: 2012 :: Now 2013 :: Enough 2014 :: Peace 2015 :: Focus And my word for 2016: Celebrate! Once again, it came to me easily—with a specific applications points, too! But despite the fact that I have picked a word each year for the last four years, I have never really done anything with it. Occasionally, my word and my resolutions would come to mind… but I wasn’t very intentional about the whole thing. I wanted this year to be different! This year I was super excited to sign up for Ali Edwards’
Life has not allowed for lots of free time for designing lately… but I did manage to create something new recently! I’ve started a new art print section in my Etsy shop: Each art print comes in five sizes (11×14, 8×10, 5×7, 4×6 and 3×4): You can do lots with these printables! You can print them out at home to hang on your wall. You can add them to a frame to place on your desk. You could even incorporate them into your scrapbook layouts or pocket pages! I’ve also added several springtime kits and collections to my shop this week (I don’t know about you, but I’m always in the mood for springy colors!). To celebrate, I’m having a sale in both my Etsy

A few months ago, I had to make a tough personal decision… I had to face the fact that the day had finally come where real life was calling me to press the pause button on my design career for a good, long time. When I first started designing, I knew this day could come–the day when I would no longer have the free time to keep up with designing and running a business. You see, 14 years ago–before we even had kids–Travis and I both had a big heart for homeschooling. For a while, I could keep up with homeschooling and designing, but there were several times over the last 4 years where I had to throw our school schedule out the window in

New in the shop this week, I have a pretty set of coordinating Heart Art packs that I’m excited to share with you today! I recently went shopping for some new acrylic paints—on National Scrapbooking Day, of all days! I felt like a bit of a traitor, going to my favorite local scrapbooking shop, only to leave with a bag full of paint and painting tools. Ha! But I’m not a traitor… I’ve just gone hybrid (to the extent that I might as well just call it digi now). I couldn’t justify buying any more pretty things just to add them to my scrapbooking stash… at least not until I pick up work on my unfinished 2012 paper Project Life album. Oh, my! So, since
It’s time once again to celebrate one of our favorite times of the year! It’s a time full of scrapbooking, contests, giveaways… and best of all store-wide savings! Let’s kick off things with a freebie, shall we? The quarterly DigiScrap Parade has launched! Here is my coordinating contribution to the parade: What’s Cooking : Freebie (If you’re following the Parade route from start to finish, you should have arrived from here and your next stop will be here. If you get lost along the way, simply head back to the main DigiScrap Parade site to view the master list and get back on track.) The colors of this month’s Parade were so pretty, I just had to make a full kit out of our palette!
